Green Product Stewardship

In line with the philosophy of “Advancing Technology, Benefiting Humanity, Enhancing Environmental Protection, and Making the Earth a Better Place,” Zhen Ding Technology Group and its subsidiaries adhere to the "Environmental Design Operation Specification" during the product feasibility assessment and product design stages. This involves implementing designs that are harmless, energy-efficient, lightweight, and recyclable to minimize their environmental impact. Please Read the Implementation Details

Raw Material Procurement

1. We have established the “Environmental Design Operation Specification,” which requires
1) the use of materials that meet customer requirements, UL certification, and RoHS standards;
2) In the absence of specific material requirements from customers, we conduct engineering confirmation using halogen-free materials;
3) All projects undergo verification to ensure that the materials used comply with legal regulations for green and harmless materials.

2. We have implemented the “Material Selection E-system” to choose materials that undergo evaluation and meet environmental requirements.

3. We have introduced the use of recycled gold, recycled solder paste, and recycled copper. For detailed information on the use of recycled materials, please refer to page 56 of the 2024 ESG Report.

Product Manufacturing

By optimizing layout utilization, we increase production output and efficiency while reducing the consumption of raw materials and waste generation. Additionally, this helps in minimizing energy and water resource usage.

Distribution, Storage, and Transportation

1. All packaging materials (TRAY, foam, bags, cartons, desiccants, humidity indicator cards) are made from eco-friendly materials that comply with HF and RoHS standards. For example, we use cobalt-free environmentally friendly humidity indicator cards and montmorillonite desiccants made from mineral materials.

2. We reduce the thickness of TRAY and the weight of sulfur-free paper to minimize the use of raw materials.

3. The stable nature of all packaging materials ensures that transportation has no adverse environmental impact. The printing inks used on outer packaging boxes are subjected to VOC testing.

4. To promote energy efficiency and green transportation, we implement carpooling to reduce vehicle trips and enhance transportation efficiency.

5. We promote recycling and reuse by collecting and reusing TRAYs, plastic pallets shipped to customers, as well as TRAYs, foam, and plastic pallets used internally, thus reducing our environmental footprint.

Product Use Phase

To enhance product durability, we improve the product's resistance to bending from three aspects: selecting materials with better bending resistance, improving the product's stacking structure, and incorporating Airgap design.

End of Life

The "Environmental Design Operation Specification" defines recycling design. When designing products, we fully consider factors such as the possibility and value of component and material recycling, recycling treatment methods, and technologies to minimize the environmental impact during recycling.

Zhen Ding is actively cooperating with its customers for the utilization of recycled products and materials. Zhen Ding's products currently encompass a range of recyclable materials such as solder paste, gold salt, copper balls, copper powder, copper sulfate, copper foil, CCL (Copper Clad Laminate), and more.

In the case of Flexible PCBs, these recyclable materials constitute approximately 77.66 % of the product's weight. Similarly, for other circuit board products, recyclable materials make up over 70% of the product's weight.

According to the recycling material usage proportion in 2023, for Flexible PCBs, around 40.49 % of the raw materials used are recycled materials.

Through our recycling efforts, we have successfully reclaimed valuable metals like gold and palladium. Considering the prices of these precious metals in 2024, this has resulted in a financial benefit of approximately NT$853,979,717.

Zhen Ding’s Role in the Supply Chain

Zhen Ding is a PCB manufacturer and an upstream component supplier in the electronics supply chain. We do not sell electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) directly to end-users and therefore do not directly manage electronic waste (WEEE) in the end market. However, we actively support circular economy and extended producer responsibility (EPR) goals through the following measures:

1. Participation in Customers’ Circular Material Programs to Support Recycling and Reuse: We actively participate in circular material programs promoted by key customers. These initiatives aim to facilitate the recycling and reuse of electronic components by encouraging suppliers to incorporate recycled materials into products, thereby achieving circular economy objectives. Through these programs, we actively respond to customers’ technical specifications and targets for recycled materials and enhance the recyclability of PCBs.

2. Targets for Recycled Materials: Although we do not directly implement take-back programs for end products, we promote the reuse of recycled resources derived from electronic waste (WEEE) by setting measurable targets for the proportion of recycled materials used. For Zhen Ding’s 2024 recycled material usage and targets, please refer to the Zhen Ding 2024 Sustainability Report.

3. Responsible Management of Internal Electronic Waste: While we do not handle consumer-end WEEE directly, we ensure that all electronic waste generated within our facilities is properly recycled and processed. All third-party waste treatment and recycling vendors must meet the following requirements: hold valid environmental permits and certifications (such as ISO 14001 or relevant local government permits), comply with applicable e-waste and hazardous waste management regulations, and undergo contract-based regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with processing standards.

4. Sharing Sustainability Knowledge and Information with Customers: We promote transparency and awareness through various means, including responding to customers’ sustainability surveys and material compliance questionnaires, participating in industry initiatives related to material circularity, providing information on the proportion of recycled materials used, and supporting life cycle assessment (LCA) activities.

These actions help raise awareness of end-of-life product management and assist customers in achieving their extended producer responsibility (EPR) goals.

Development and Planning of Clean Technologies

Zhen Ding continues to promote the development of green clean technologies. In 2022, we launched an ISO 14067 product carbon footprint inventory, and in 2024, we initiated a product environmental footprint inventory. The products covered by the inventories account for 6.5% of total revenue. The Company conducts carbon footprint assessments for a range of products and continually optimizes processes, equipment, and materials, aiming to develop low-carbon technologies and provide corresponding solutions. At the same time, we actively integrate various resources while focusing on the development of green products. In terms of processes, we develop low-carbon emission processes and improve efficiency by streamlining and optimizing existing processes. In terms of materials, we implement resource sharing and reuse strategies to promote the development of a circular economy. Taking the metal recycling system as an example, we successfully refined and recycled precious metals, such as gold and palladium, using its unique technology. In 2024, 333 kg of gold and 67 kg of palladium were refined, achieving resource recycling and creating sustainable economic value. In terms of equipment, we use low-energy, low-pollution equipment and replace traditional manufacturing models through smart factory initiatives. Real-time monitoring of operations across all plants helps effectively reduce waste of energy, raw materials, and chemicals, while also enhancing product manufacturing quality. In addition, combined with simulation technology, it can reduce the need for prototype samples, improve development efficiency, and reduce costs to provide low-carbon and efficient solutions for customers.

Green products

As circuit boards move toward greater functionality, thinner designs, and environmental sustainability, Zhen Ding continuously tracks market trends and new product opportunities. Starting from green design principles, we prioritize the use of recyclable materials and adopt clean, eco-friendly processes and technologies to develop a new generation of functional, modular circuit boards with fast response and high sensitivity. These designs replace traditional components, conserve resources, and reduce full device scrapping caused by individual component failures, thereby extending product life cycles and enhancing the user experience. As of the end of 2024, green product-related revenue accounted for approximately 10.5% of the Company's total revenue.
